About: Sainik Schools are boarding schools that are jointly ventured by the Central and State Governments, managed by the Sainik Schools Society, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Since these schools prepare students for NDA in the +2 stage, only the Science stream is offered. 
2. Aim: In 1961, these schools were established across India to prepare students academically, physically, and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy. 
3. Stats: There are about 33 Sainik schools in the country.  
4. Board & Curriculum:  They offer a standard curriculum and are affiliated with the CBSE, New Delhi.  
5. Fees: It costs approximately. Rs 1,27,500 per student per academic year spread across 23 States and one Union Territory.  
6. Admission: Sainik Schools admit students in classes VI & IX based on their merit in the Entrance Examination (comprising Maths, GK (Sc & Sst), Language, and Intelligence for Class VI; Maths, Intelligence, English, General Science, and Social Studies for Class IX) and an Interview. Every year in October, parents can obtain a prospectus and an application form, though the application process is online and the test is held in January.

3. Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS)

1. RMS is also known as the King George’s Royal Indian Military schools, which were basically formed in 1946 to educate the sons of defence personnel. In 1952, they were opened for Defence Service Officers and civilians as well. 
2. Boards: All of the RMSs are affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.  
3. Locations: RMS are there at Bengaluru, Belgaum, Chail (Shimla Hills), Ajmer (for boys), and Dholpur.   
4. Vacancies: The school reserves 70% of its seats for wards of the JCOs/OR of the Army, Navy, and AF (including Ex-servicemen); 30% for wards of the Army, Navy, and AF (including Ex-servicemen), and 50 seats separately for children of martyrs.  
5. Admission: The admission test takes place in December every year for Class VI & IX based on available vacancies.

About: EMRS are residential schools from Class VI to XII, established in 1997-98 to offer quality education and all-round development to ST children in remote areas. These schools will have special facilities for preserving local art and culture, as well as for sports training and skill development.  
2. Stats: In India, there are 722 sanctioned schools, out of which 499 are currently functional.  
3. Board: This is not fixed for EMRS, as they may be affiliated with either the State or Central Board of Education.  
4. Admission: Eklavya Model Residential School Selection Test (EMRSST) is conducted for class VI & Eklavya Model Residential School Lateral Entry Test (EMRSLT) for Classes VII-IX. Parents can apply both online or offline.
